In May, the event website NextThreeDays.com celebrated its one year anniversary as a spin-off company from parent company Automation Creations (ACI) by launching an updated front page for the website. The new front page is now compatible with the latest versions of iPad and other tablets and no longer requires the Flash plug-in.
“We’re very excited about our new front page. Not only is it compatible with the latest tablet devices, but it’s also a lot faster. We’ve already received a lot of positive feedback about the update from our users,” said Jami Ryan, president of NextThreeDays.
The updated front page is not the only change since NextThreeDays spun off from its parent company ACI a year ago. The Blacksburg company has partnered with Hooptie Ride and area hotels to help spread the word about area events and specials in the New River Valley.
“The New River Valley has so much to offer its residents and visitors; we want to make sure folks know about all the local opportunities for entertainment so we have partnered with area hotels. Now when visitors check in, they get a business card sized pamphlet which they can take to their hotel room and see what events are going on during their stay. And with Hooptie Ride, we have partnered to create an electronic slideshow of area specials and events that riders can view while on their fare. Our tagline is Find Your Fun, and with these two partnerships, I believe we are accomplishing that,” said Ryan.
The past year has also seen record traffic for the website, and April 2012 was the best month yet for the company in terms of number of visitors and page views. During the last year, NextThreeDays.com has listed and promoted over 59,000 events and specials in the New River Valley.
“I’m excited where we currently are and can’t wait to see what the future holds for NextThreeDays. We owe all of our success to our website visitors and friends on Facebook and Twitter,” said Ryan.
“I also would like to thank Automation Creations and in particular owner Henry Bass for giving me the opportunity to spin off a year ago and explore NextThreeDays as an independent enterprise,” said Ryan.
While listing and promoting local events online is the website’s forte, that doesn’t mean the employees sit behind a desk all day. NextThreeDays has participated in Gobblerfest, Radford University’s Club Fair, The Blacksburg Fork & Cork, Brew Do, and the Special Olympics Polar Plunge. Company employees also volunteer with the Montgomery Museum, the United Way, and serve on the Fork & Cork and Brew Do Planning Committees. NextThreeDays is a participant in the NRV Chili Festival, Summer Solstice Fest, and Steppin’ Out.
“We try to stay active in the community as well as participate in as many events as we can. As Sy Sperling from the Hair Club for Men so famously said, ‘I’m not only the president, but I’m also a client,’” joked Ryan.
